The close up shot is used to frame a character or characters and capture emotion without showing the background of the scene. All of the focus is on the centre of the close up shot and immerses the viewer.
In this scene the close up shot is used to directly show the tension between the two characters the close up makes the viewer feel like they are part of the story.
