Titles

The titles in this film are used to set the background of this film, They show the background history as a timeline of what happened the autobots and why the ended up on earth. 

It is narrated by one of the main characters optimus prime with music that makes the audience feel sympathetic for the autobots and suggest to the audience that their cause should take favor over the decepticons.

The lighting and effects used in the scenes are dark and filled with smoke to show the destruction of their world.

Music

The music used in the title sequence is powerful emotional music to promote the cause of the autobots and gathering them sympathy from the audience. The  music used in this film is standard for this genre, the styles of music used to create certain emotions or atmospheres is similar other films of its genre.

Certain music is used to build and break tension when there is stress between members of the autobots or frustration at how they are being ignored by the government. Music is also used to enhance the action chase scenes, Being huge robots using standard music from this genre would maybe make them seem smaller to the viewers than they actually are so music with fast tempo is used during chase scenes to enhance the scale and speed of the robots.

Mies en Scene

This films set is mainly based on earth after the autobots have arrived they are seen as allies to the US Government but many civilians say they would feel safer with them gone the task for the film crew is to create a sense that the humans are a small part in a big picture and do not realize what they are involved with, They have to show that the humans remain to believe they are in control when really they are being shadowed by the deceptions. To do this they use the colour scheme of the different robots (props) the decepticons vary between black which symbolizes death and evil.

The autobots however are themed with colours such as blue which symbolizes truth and loyalty, green which symbolizes safety, a robot which the humans can rely on to protect them and yellow which symbolizes joy and energy putting creating the feeling of hope that they will prevail over the decepticons.

They also vary the lighting between the primary scenes between the two factions the decpticons are shadowed in darkness showing their power over the humans and evil with their intentions, the autobots are brightly light to symbolize their resistance against the darkness (decpticons).

Target Audience

The target audience for this film could range from anyone who enjoyed the original TV Series or the Comics, It covers most age ranges from children to the middle aged. The films main genre is Action which is a key aspect throughout the film.

Distribution

The film is distributed by Paramount Pictures who focus on medium to large budget films such as the Transformers Trilogy but have been known in the past to invest on lower budget films such as the Paranormal Activity franchise. The movie was budgeted at 195 Million USD which would be considered to be a large budget film.

Social Groups

The film in the form of human emotions only represents the groups of soldiers and military who are fighting with the autobots and against the decpticons, The military all all portrayed as men who care for their country and its people who would risk their lives to save the earth.

Audience Expectations

Due to the nature of this type of film it relies largely on CGI and special effects to make the robots seem real and actually mean something to the viewer for this reason the audience throughout the series of films will be expecting advancements in design of the robots and better technology to go with them, They will also be expecting a more challenging foe for the military and autobots combined, to take them to the limit of what they can do.

Titles

This film is based on a man who is struggling to keep interest in what he does, He is chasing a promotion and spends his working days in a safe house waiting for someone to be brought in, The titles in this film show his standard day a workout, shower then to work. It creates an atmosphere with no intention to change the music is slow and the characters emotions relay emotions of disinterest. The combination of these things are shown to setup for the body of the film, The safe house keeper is unprepared and lacks training as he cant be promoted until he gains experience which he clearly isn't receiving stuck in a  what appears to be a dead end job.

Music

The music in the opening sequence is slow paced and is used to add to the sense of disinterest and lack of interest shown by the main character. Throughout the film music is used only in scenes of tension, This film seems to stay away from using sound to create any other emotions other than the building of tension and when the tension hits its peak they cut the music to break it.

During the scenes before the delivery of the fugitive the music changes to make the housekeeper look like a small part in a big picture, The daunting task he has been faced with, one of americas most wanted, is much more skilled at what he does and has been praised in his skills of human manipulation. 

Mise en Scene

At the start of the film where the intentions are to show the main characters lack of interest in his job the lighting and set used are of a safe house, Dull and dark, There is never anything going on there and there is a very dull monotonous environment. 

The props and set play a big part in showing characters personalities and how they operate. The fugitive is a simplistic yet complicated man, This is shown by how he operates places he meets yes he posses no personal belongings or anything more meaningful that next apart from the information he is dealing to his buyers.

The housekeeping and men assigned to secure this fugitive are well armed and supplied with everything they need to keep control of him. This will be turned against them later on in the film and instead of making them look like the more powerful side the simplistic nature of how the fugitive operates combined with the failure of the heavily armed well equipped men make them look like the weaker side and create an almost god like character who shows no fear in any situation and still manages to gain complete control with no force or input other than his voice. 

After creating the character of the fugitive he is thrown onto a set of a downtown city in the custody of the untrained housekeeper, This shows to the viewers that the fugitive combined with the weakness of the housekeeper will put he will be in control but will not be aware of it.

The props used from here on out are basic, With small firearms against heavily armed men and small rundown cars against large modern vehicles.

Target Audience

The target audience of this film are people who enjoy classic action run offs with their own twist . It is suited to those who would enjoy action films with a twist but for those who enjoy pure action they might find it a little unsatisfactory as the film revolves around the deeper meaning of criminal psychology.  

Distribution

This film is distributed by Universal Pictures who have produced many large budget action films in the past such as Battleship and the Bourne Series. 

The film was regarded as a medium budget film costing around 85 Million USD to produce.

Social Groups

There are two social groups with focus in this film, The police force and the criminals, The characters consist of  the police force and criminals, Although  these criminals are shown as well equipped and trained foreigners and the police force as highly trained investigators.

Audience Expectations

The trailers for this film show the film differently to how it actually is, The trailers focus on the criminology side of the film, How Toban Frost manages to manipulate the mind of the office looking after him whereas this doesn't play a big of a part in the film as the trailer may suggest. For any viewer expecting this sort of film they may be disappointed anyone with a favor of action should enjoy it.

This film is very action packed and the creators seem to want to give the viewer a preview of what is to come in the titles of this film, Firstly the scene is setup to show the background story set in a prison, The titles create a flash through the film and each stage. The opening scene is also used to create a contrast later in the film. The team are breaking one of their agents out of a prison and they are given every resource to do so. This is a contrast to later on in the film where the team are forced to go back to basics when all their unit is disbanded and they are without any support other than each other. The titles then go to the gallery of scenes and sets from the film as the camera pans across a burning wire, The burning wire is used to create a sense of time being limited and running out which is a main theme throughout the film

Music

The music in the opening scene creates a relaxed mood all the way throughout the opening sequence, This is to further enhance the sense of control that the team posses. The music that is played by a member of the team mocks the prison guards playing the men who are stereotypically in control at the bottom of the chain of command in the prison. During the titles the theme music of the film series plays while scenes and sets of the film are flashed along a burning wire. 

Mise en Scene

This movie uses props and scenes to provide a more exciting theme to the viewer, The type of enemy in your classic action spy film are running out of a rather rundown abounded warehouse whereas this film creates an enemy that will change how the viewer sees the balance of power between the two sides.

The enemy in this film are wealthy, smart and very powerful. They are provided with all the equipment that they need and have no shortage of expendable men. 

The power swings the advantage over to the enemy creating an irregular balance of power providing the viewer with more tension as not only do the intelligence team have to beat their enemy, They now have to do it outnumbered and outgunned.

The sets used show how the enemy is not intimidated by the intelligence team but simply ignore their actions and continue with their business meeting in very expensive luxurious hotels.

Target Audience

The target audience of this film would be fans of the previous films in the franchise and fans of any film which involves a lot of action from hidden divisions of policing. The film doesn't contain large amounts of gore or violence but is just classic clean action.

Audience Expectations

I think that expectations would have been high for this film with 3 films from the franchise before it the audience would be expecting something that would better previous performances in story and special effects.
